Well with OBDI, you shouldn't get a CEL from the EGR blockoff..but if you do there are a bunch of easy fixes.
As far as I know, it is a hit or a miss with the cat. I've heard of OBD2 cars not getting it, and I've heard of OBD1 cars getting a CEL...so I'm not sure about that. If you're worried about it, get a $30 testpipe, and just swap the cat back during emissions.

It is impossible for us to get a CEL having a test pipe or gutted cat because there are no 02s after the cat. Also old and good, I highly doubt you even have a EGR having a 93. If you were a TT then yes you could have one but being 93 you are fed spec and fed specs didnt get a EGR.

Don't you only get a CEL if you gut the precats somtimes? And you shouldent have precats being first gen and non TT.

Yes gutted precats will throw a CEL but only in OBD2. I gutted my precats and have run for almost 2 weeks and 1k miles without a CEL. I checked with the 94-95 TT guys on 3si and they said they get no cel and dont have a simulator either. I guess having a bastard ECU is good for something after all.:p

igovert500 there in my country you dont have to have a cat on your car untill 1995 so its compleatly legal to remove the cat altogether on older than 1995 vehilces

Nope, I confirmed my thoughts with the TT guys on 3si. Now I just need to sell the simulator.
Old and good I beleive that tube is basically just a breather.
