i have a 2002 ranger 2.3 4 cyl with the plugs on the top of the motor. i can't get the wires off the plugs. i called the dealer and the tech said to buy a new set because i would surely destroy the old ones getting them off. he said they are extremely tight. anyone know of an easier way to get the wires off? i tried plyers and even tried using a screwdriver to pry them off. nothing. thanks for any help

I have a 99 4 cyl and paid a mechanic 2 cases of Coors Lite to change the plugs and wires for me.

Mine has 2 plugs per cylinder and a few of the plugs are totally unreachable without disassembling the intake manifold.

You have a 2002 ranger. How many miles are on it? You shouldn't have to change the spark plugs or just inspect them at about 60000 miles. BUT<<< You should always change the wires and the plugs at the same time. Why are you skimping?

thanks. skimping? you may have a point. i just bought the truck and i want to see what the motor is doing. no better way than to sneak a peak at the plugs. i just wanted to pull them, check them, and return them. i didn't really want to replace the wires if it isn't necessary. anyone know how to get the boot off the plug without ruining the entire wire?
