i had my father change my oil yesterday and was throwing out everything this morning and realized he put the wrong oil filter on. knucklehead. i believe it is for a pontiac grand prix. change immediately or is it alright. its not leaking or anything. want anything done do it yourself!!!

I would change it. You're talking about a 20 dollar oil change vs a few grand motor.

I agree. Change it. If you are using AC-Delco the original catalog number for the Aurora's filter, as found in the Owner's Manual, is no longer available. A substitute is available from AC-Delco. Check their website: http://www.acdelco.com/html/catalog/index_auto.htm

The original number was PF-58 (AC-Delco) the substitute is the PF-61.

I am guessing that the filter for the Grand Prix or Grand Am might well have been a PF-47 - but that's irrelevent!

By all means change it! You will lose 1/2 quart of oil, not all of it, just what is in the filter.

Put a new Aurora filter on. Cost $3. and 1 pint of oil.

the threaded hole on the grand prix 3.8 or3.1 filter would have been too small to even thread up to the base plate of the aurora...i have also noticed that the bodys of some other brands to fit the aurora are shorter than the delco brand filters....but change the filter to one you have confidence with
