I was looking to buy a prelude for my sister's upcoming birthday but don't know a lot about them. I have an Acura Integra so I know how reliable the Honda motors are. Is there anything that I should know about them (little defects, transmission problem , ect...) In addition, are there any years that they did not use the VTEC engine as that makes our insurance skyrocket. Thanks in advance for the help.

1996 and earlier Preludes are available without VTEC. The only issue I've ever heard about with used Preludes is the timing belt - if the previous owner didn't do regular maintenance the timing belt might be worn - if it slips it causes huge problems.

You insurance shouldn't skyrocket at all. It's still a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine. I'm a 19 year old guy and I pay like $1500 a year. It really shouldn't be that bad.

well good luck cus its hard to find a good prelude. most of the prelude out there has been beat up and mods by the people who are hungry for horsepower gain.
