Bad Shifting

I have a 94 astro that after I floored it in first gear, now only shifts from first to final drive. I have to let up on the throttle to allow it to slip into drive but there is no second or third gear shift. what gives???

I have a 1998 that had a rough shifting issue going from first to second once the transmission warmed up. This would happen after constant driving. I ignored this for 6 months and eventually burned the transmission up. cost of $1300 to repair. I came to find out this is typical with the Astro's. If you take it to a certified transmission shop they can check the codes (1870 was the code they read on mine). My cost would have been $250 opposed to $1300. You may be able to have the codes checked for free. I hope this helps. I'm no mechanic just passing along my Astro experience.

I took it to a shop and they checked for codes. They said none were set. So after about 2 weeks of driving it this way, it's being rebuilt right now to the tune of 1200.00! Hope to get it back today.
