Woke up this morning all ready to go to work. Went to put my key in my truck and saw that someone had tried to break into it. They punched in the lock then tried to pry up under the handle guard. They didn't get in but caused enough damage to piss me off.

Now I want to get an alarm.... a fairly good one. Any ideas of which one to get. I want to try and keep it under $400.

Well I just purchased an Avital 2100 made by Clifford and I'm super happy with it. It was like $305 Canadian Installed. That was with Starter Kill, door locks, and flashing park lights. I was pretty happy.

In all honesty you don't need to spend a lot on an alarm as a thief will see the blinking light and move on in most cases. They'd rather break in to a vehicle if it doesn't have an alarm than if it does have one.
Just my :2cents: Sorry to hear about your ride; nothing worse than feeling violated. Thank goodness both of our vehicles sit in the garage at night. :D

Hey urmomni , sorry to hear about your truck. I had my K1500 jimmy broken into once on me and i had an alarm but because the door pin was rusty a bit and did not get contact after the pryed the butterfly window open and then opened the door, it did not go off. That was the type of alarm where it had the dual zone motion sensor and because it was windy that night and the trees right above the truck kept setting off the warn away mode , i silent armed it , which disables the first stage of the impace sensor and the outer zone of the motion sensor so after they got into the truck and started breaking away the steering column to get at the ratchet mechanisim to start it, it still did not go off. Only untill enough vibration made the door pin get contact did it go off and scare them away. Even if they had gotten to the point of being able to start it , it would not have because of the starter kill relay. Now that i have ranted on about that , i know that this is a bit out of the price range , but the alarm/starter i have i love because of the two way pager it has , if the alarm is going off , it pages you , it also lets you know if it has started and you can not see the vehicle. I got it at a good deal because i knew the guy and it still costed me $625 installed almsot 2 years ago now, but well worth it in my opinion.
