I know the faq says to replace the intake, downpipe, boost controller, and the boost gauge. the site reccomended http://johnmonnin.netfirms.com/Intakes.html has a custom intake thing there is it ne good alot cheap then the others uses a bigger filter but when the price is low that usally mean the quality is also. Just wondering since i'm going to be making some phone calls bout stealths in my aera i want to get mods lined out and in orderd so when i get the car i'll know what i want and when.

As long as it doesn't leak your air or cause excessive internal turbulence - anything is better than the restrictive stock air intake setup.

Notice though, that the custom setup doesn't include a new pipe body. You will also want to replace that as well.

Check ebay, there are some decent deals on there for intake setups.

There are no pipes with teh kit, becuase every picture on there is from a vr4..there are no cold air intake kits for the vr4. My personal opinion...intakes aren't rocketscience. Very few have any distinguishing features at all. Basically, all intakes are the same. If I could do it again, I would have done the custom setup he describes, rather than wasting $170 on the K&N FIPK. Get the largest filter you can find and fit. More $ doesn't necessarily mean better quality...it means name brand that comes with a sticker.

Right, there are no (that I know of) kits for a VR4 to drop the filter itself to an area to draw in colder air. There is, however, a pipe body replacement for the turbo.

I was referring to something like this:

That is a y-pipe...I have yet to see one sold with an intake filter as a kit....EVER. They are 2 completely different parts. Granted they both are parts on the intake side of the engine...but that y-pipe is after the turbos, after the intercoolers...it connects to the throttle body. While on an NA, the intake would connect to a pipe that connects to the throttle body, the vr4 has ALOT in between the two. And as I said, I've never seen them sold together.

The only reason to replace the y-pipe is either for bling factor, or if your factory one is blowing off (typically doesn't happen until after you buy a boost controller and up the boost to 14+psi)

I don't mean to come across as a prick, but essentially, what I'm saying is that they are unrelated.

Can't tell for sure, but it doesn't look that big...I think it is one of the smaller ones. Best bet is to ask IPO on 3si.

I think I will, it would be nice to have the K&N name along with a large diamiter and surface area filter for cheep.

Ok it is 4.5" so thats probably going to be what I get in a little while. He didn't say how long it is but I asked so i'll edit this when I know.

Edit: Well the one they sell is only 6" long, I found a good one thats just over 8" long with the 4.5" outlet here

I think I'll be getting that since I know people can just barely fit the 9" and an 8" woul be perfect with the IPO here. http://www.importpoweronline.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=32_100_249_250&products_id=1271
