I need to replace all of the brake cylinders on my 74 beetle. Is it hard? What, in general, does this consist of? It is all around drum brake system.

actually its very easy, all u need to do is to take off the drum, remove the brake line from the brake cylinder, and take out the bolt from behind the cylinder. the cylinders are cheap and should go in just as easy as they came out. when ur done, bleed the brakes.

Consider replacing all the rubber brake lines while you're at it.
After 30 years these become weak and can collapse or expand making the brakes ineffective.
Since the system will be open anywaym this is a good time to make sure the brakes are in tip-top shape.
