I am going to replace my head and i can't deside on staying 2G or going with a 1G swap. I know 1G's flow better stock and the cams are an upgrade but i am on a really tight budget. I am thinking about the FFWD level 3.5 or the SlowBoy level 3. I have a 89 (TB) if i want to remove the lines. I cant make up my mind i have about $2200.00 total for this any help would be great thanks.
Any one in the TX area need a good 6 bolt block let me know

you won't need something as big as the ffwd 3.5 one on a stock block with no aftermarket parts. the slowboy stage 2 would provide a little more performance with timing adjustment and bigger cam gears and a little more flow, but nothing really major.

I wouldnt spend too much money on a head, unless you are going to go balls out. I spend about 275 at the machinist. I do perform some mild cleanup on the runners and chambers after its been disassembled though. But I can't see spending more money unless you are going to go all out with a proven head, and that gets real pricey. The money will just be better spent elsewhere in my humble opinion.

there are so many other things you can do with that $$. rebuild the head and clean out the runners and throw some cams in there...

Yes i agree but i do not want much down time. The shop here said a month to do it and they also want about 900.00 to do it all. NOT INCLUDING PARTS. So the way i see it is i can buy a new built head for the same price throw the HKS cams in my self and be good to go. The big question i had was 1G or 2G? i plan on a sheet metal intake manifold later so take that into thought.....thanks for the help

My machinist does everything I need for under 300 including parts and I get it back in a few days. A month and 900 bucks is laughable.

You're missing the point though. Go to another machinist, a normal one, and put the other money to better use.
No one upgrades springs for normal cams, unless they plan on running 9k or higher. These guys are assclowns, forget everything they ever told. They're stressing me out...
