My 98 durango's front lights are turning yellow. What can I do to remove the yellow?

Actually there's little to nothing you can do about this problem. This is normal wear and tear for clear haed lamps made of this plastic material. Chances are you'll have to buy new covers. Good luck. J

I was told by a good friend to wet sand them with 2000 sand paper and then buff them with compond. The yellow is caused by small scratches.

Actually there is something you can do about it! Go buy Brasso brass polish. Use this to polish them about 3 times. Depending on how bad yours are it may make them perfectly clear again. Doing this will definitly help remove the yellow oxidation. Other brass polishes work too but I find this one to be the best. Works on tailights too if they are looking coudy and faded.

I was told that you can buy the glass/plastic cleaner in a car store that is used for convertible back windows. Don't know if it works but it is a cheap try and was told it does.

I know 3M makes a plastic polish and it works well with a buffer. It is expensive and I think the brass polish works just as well.
