Oil filter question?

guys,

I have been having trouble with my race car blowing oil seals on my oil filter in cold weather. I have always been a fram fan!. recently i was told about a aluminum oil filter that can be taken apart and is good for life? any thoughts or comments, good or bad?

Here are some articles I think you should check out. Fram is actually one of the worst filters you can buy. The first is a study of a lot of popular oil filters. The second is an e-mail from an Allied Signal production engineer that works with Fram filters. The third is an overview page about the different oil filters covered in the study.

I used Fram filters for years without problems, but after seeing one cut open, I've never used one again. Bypass valves made out of cardboard, holes in the paper filter that you could see through... Not pretty.

Dirtracer: The gasket isn't one of Fram's problems, so something else is wrong. Using a different filter won't be the proper fix for the problem. The problem sounds like a sticking oil pump pressure regulator spring. The cold oil develops much more pressure than hot oil and it blows the gasket out.
