I have a 98 Ford Ranger with 126,000 miles. The check engine light has come on. Any ideas on what might have caused this & where I can take it to have it checked and/or fixed relatively inexpensive?

if your truck is still running fine when the light is on it should be cheap to change. it usually is a oxygen senser. U can get the light checked for free at Autozone. Hope this helps you. Andrew

If you can find a auto part store with enough inteligence to operate a code scanner (very simple), then they'll do it for free. You might read from a Clinton's manual from inside the store on how to do it and guide the worker on getting the codes pulled. Don't let them unhook your battery. 9 times out of 10 they put them in backwards.
