Doubtful. if you want loud no muffler will do it for you on the newer chevys. a friend of mine had 5 different mufflers before he ordered a cat back system from flowmaster and its still not loud at all. Firstly to be loud you need true dual, not split rear. So that would mean two separate pipes all the way from manifold to tail pipe that never join. Most guys dont wanna spend that kinda money so they get a cat-back which is good but wont make it loud.

I disagree. I've got a Flowmaster 40 with a single-in, dual-out. I'm running dual 3" echo tips and it's plenty loud.
So loud that it convinced a friend of mine not to get a 40 series if/when he gets a catback put on his 2004 5.3L.

I have a 40 series dual outlet Flowmaster and I'm sick and tired of all the fuss it makes. it's too loud inside the truck.

Well it sure as hell is way way louder than the stock exhaust but nothin close to cherry bomb or straight pipe.

i had the exact same setup---i cut out the resonator and it made a huge difference, then i got so used to it, i ran true dual straight pipes and couldnt get used to it and ended up putting super 40 flows on it.....sounds superb.....if i may say.....if you want to spend more money or i guess if your willing to, get a good exhaust shop to run true dual straights and then shop for mufflers.....put the mufflers near the hottest area of the pipes after the trucks been runnin for a while(where the exhaust pulses stop, youll get the most power) if you dont want to spend much more money just cut out the resonator

How do you find the hottest spot inthe pipe? paint it and wherever it burns off first?
