ABS grinding

I have a 2002 TB LS 4wd. Every once in a while, I hear this awful grinding noise in the front end when braking. I am usually sliding a bit on snow or ice when I hear this. The dealership said it was normal to hear this noise and that it is the ABS working. I can't believe that grinding can be good or normal in any instance. Has anyone else had this same problem? What should I do?

Thanks

I have had heard this noise as well, only in the snow. I think it is the ABS trying to stop the wheels from sliding or spinning. Other than that I have not heard anything from the brakes.

Yup, thats typical of ABS. It's preventing the wheels from locking up by what I would describe as rapidly pumping the breaks. Before I bought my 02 TB I had a 97 s-10 pickup that did the same. It seems they actually made the system a little quieter since then because it was downrite loud in the pickup.
