When I switch into reverse, the car shakes when the gear engages.
Nothing earth shattering, but it's very noticable.

Doesn't happen when i put it into Drive, or any other gear.

TIA

Does it happen when you give it gas, or just when you put it in?

does it keep shaking or just when you put it into gear. Is it just reverse what about Drive or 1 2 or 3 gear or Neutral

It shakes for just a second.
and only in the reverse gear

D, 1, 2, 3 are fine

The transmission fluid level is fine too.

I would get the tranny a full flush, your reverse gear in the tranny might be going then you need a rebuild. Try the flush first that might fix the problem. Worth a try cheaper then a tranny rebuild. This is caused by thoughing it right into reverse and not stoping for a sec in each gear before putting it into reverse. seen this before

Transmission flush? Oh now you've done it. Kid, Big-L, care to chime in here?

Hey Guys.
I was driving it the other day and I kinda realized that it does it for every gear.

I just never noticed it in D, 1, 2, 3 because I usually go to R first (backing out of parking lot, driveway, etc..). and while the car is slowly rolling, i put it into D. If the car is moving already, i dont notice it. It's only when the car is stopped and idle.

Do you have a great deal of engine movement when the car is under a load? Could be upper and/or lower mounts failing. When the mounts go, you can start hearing all sorts of sounds and shifting may suffer as well.

Shifting is smooth when car is in motion.
There are no noises...only movements.
its a rumble...or some bouncing. its not violent... but its noticeable. you cant mistake what it was.

check your motor mounts. I had an old tempo that did that in reverse. I confirmed it (though it may not be wise to try unless your in a $300 car like a Tempo) when i hit the gas while in reverse and heard and felt the motor drop back down.

If you give it gas, does the shake stop?? Sounds like you have the switch thats in the transmission filter area starting to stick. It will get worse and start acting up the moment you put it in reverse or drive. Does it act like a manuel transmission when you coming to a stop without pushing in the clutch?

I had a mechanic check it out and he confirmed that it was a loose engine mount (not too loose, but loose enough to cause a wobble).
the shake was greater when I put it in R than when i put it in D because it was the rear engine mount.

Anyways, just wanted to post this incase anyone else has the same issue.

Dont know if this is something you can tighten yourself or not.

I have similar symptoms. Whenever I shift my car it is as if it isnt engaged, then catches a second later and there is a bit of a pull, not exactly super smooth.
