My name is robert and I'm new to this DSM stuff. I recentely bought a 93 talon tsi turbo automatic and I got a few problems. The car had problems starting since the first time I bought it but I figured it was the battery. When the car is cold it takes about ten minutes of cranking untill it turns on. I even ran the fuel pump direct because I thought it would make it start. What I do is spray carbarator cleaner into the throtle body and it turns right on. Once I start the car this way it will turn on after I turn it off unless I wait like five hours. I replaced the batery, wires, splarkplugs and fuel filter. I did all the free mods like remove air box, silencer and ,modify boost regulator. The car is pretty quick and even gives my fathers stock 97 gt mustang comp when I first turn it on but if I let it get to normal temp the car is crazy slow. I have problems beating v-6 mustangs when the car has been running for a while. Also when I open my hood the the exhast manifold is glowing red I can see it under the heat shield. I thought my cat might be clogged so i disconected my cat and ran it open but it didn't help. I really need some help with this so any comments would really be apriciated. Thanks

Are thoses the only mods that you have done?
It sounds like your EGT's are way to high. I'm not going to be able to tell you why they are so high. You will have to wait until one of the more experienced guys sees this post.

Yeah, depending on how long you were boosting for, the manifold can get glowing good! :icon16: That pic was of my manifold and Evo III 16g after rallying with an Audi TT through the hill roads by my town. About 10-15 miles at between 10-15psi of boost will do that!

BTW: Its a manifold, not header.
And 29* timing is nothing, I've logged 38* timing consecutively, WOT at 5500rpms. Now that is fucked up.
