Hello everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself to you guys and let you know about my development work on an affordable OBD-II scan tool for do-it-yourselfers.

My name is David Gore, and I have been developing an OBD-II and performance analysis tool known as ProScan for nearly 3 years now.

Finally, after years of dedicated development, experimentation, and testing, I am ready to release ProScan! It has all of the features that you would expect in a scan tool plus many more. Of course you can read and clear DTCs, perform emission tests, and monitor/plot/log vehicle sensor data, but I added even more...

With ProScan, not only can you perform race track analysis (1/4 mile plus more stats) and dyno sessions, but you can save, print, and even export your timeslips and dyno sheets to JPEG image files to share online! Additionally, ProScan has advanced algorithms for collecting over twice as many data points as the nearest competitor!

ProScan even allows you to tweak the internal timing to get the absolute maximum bandwidth for each vehicle you analyze. And if you frequently analyze multiple vehicles, you'll love the Vehicle Profile Manger built into ProScan!

I am an automotive enthusiast myself (http://www.cardomain.com/id/dvstate), and I have been pouring my heart and soul into developing ProScan to be a useful tool for myself and others to use. Quality, Dependability, and Usability are the three metrics that ProScan was designed from the ground up to excel in.

I have tons of great ideas for ProScan, and I will continue to implement them as quickly as possible. And I welcome all of you to send me your requests. I will work with you to implement the features that you desire.

Check out my web site for more information:

Please drop me a line and let me know what you think! I look forward to hearing from you and working with you and to produce the world's most cost-effective and leading-edge automotive analysis tool!

Thank you,

Well, I can't send you one for free... but I am putting the software on the web site right now for download. You can play around with the interface, but you won't be able to connect to a vehicle without the hardware and a valid serial number.

Thanks,

Looks like your machine is just one of those mickey mouse obd2 scanner. I want something that is compatible with any vehicle. Maybe you need to develop a machine that is similar to SnapOn Scanner and I'll probly buy one. I am also looking for a portable 5 gas analyser (O2, CO, CO2, HC, and NOx). I need it for my school project.

LOL

ProScan is designed as a cost-effective solution for do-it-yourself mechanics. If you're rich and enjoy throwing money away, then yeah, go ahead and pay a few thousand dollars for a Snap On.

If you're a regular guy looking for the most bang for the buck... then ProScan is exactly what you need. The product and support are unbeatable for the price you'll pay... leaving money in your pocket for the things that really matter.

A couple of comments.
Why not incorporate all the current communication protocols into the hardware and firmware?
What about CAN protocol?

February 2007, purchased ProScan 5 with USB cabling and CD and OBDII adapter. We did NOT receive any Serial Number to unlock the software after installing!! We have tried to contact Gore Research, the parent company of MyScanTool.com, the maker of the ProScan family of Automotive scan tools. We have not recived any reply to our several requests for a serial number, how acquire one. We used their "Support" reply form, "Sales" reply form, and email to David Gore directly. Purchase date: 02-11-07, package received 02-14-07.

Someone went to trouble of packaging the contents, sending via USPS, replete with tracking number. We registered our name and gave Password, they replied in "autoresponder?" email to give us their generated User Account password. But no response to our NO Serial Number PROBLEM.

There is not any web listing for the address or phone number for Gore Research, MyScanTool.com, or for David Gore.

Can anyone help us?! Please! is this company legitimate? One would think so after all the effort to send the product, etc.

the named account purchaser of the scantool is "ib697", contact: Weldon at [email protected]
thanks

ProScan serial numbers are printed on the invoice included with your package. If you lost your invoice, let me know your order number and I'll provide you with an electronic pdf copy of your invoice via email. The email you mentioned above is not associated with any orders on our system, so I can't identify your order.

Thanks,

To anyone considering this product

I purchased the Pro Scam OBD II code reader. It shipped looking like a used piece of hardware from eBay. I sprang for the optional Bluetooth interface because most laptops in the last 6 years haven't had serial ports on them mine included.

The Blue tooth USB interface that shipped with the tool was defective from the get go and would not stay connected to the scan tool and after a few hours it wouldn't even be detected by the usb interface. I sent emails to every address i could find and only recived the automated replys but no support what so ever. I can only assume that there is no way one man coul awnser as many complaints as you must get. In the end i had to go and spend another 60 bucks one a replacment USB blue tooth interface and low and behold it worked.... sorta.

At best the software is flakey, sometimes I will try and use it and it will work right away and tell me what the code is. Most of the time I get all kinds of different erros sutch as the device has been initialized but the connedtion to the computer cannot be esatblished or more common is even though the serial over bluetooth conection is active the software will simpy not be able to connect to the device.

Assuming I can even get the software to work properly and connect to my car many times when I check codes the Pro Scan software dosn't know what the code means, or in some cases will tell me yes ther is 1 trouble code but won't display it at all.

You say this is supposed to be an inexpensive tool for the entusiast howerver with the price of the tool & optional blue tooth adaptor and the replacement bluetooth adaptor I had to buy myself and taxes I have spent close to 250$ bucks on a peice of junk that dosn;t even work and I am still left driving to my local autoparts supplyer paying 10 bucks to get a code read. Had I listend to thos who tried to warn me I could have simpy purchased the same model OBD II code reader my auto parts supplyer has for less than 200 bucks and it will also read OBD I and several pre OBD diagnostic types.

It's really a shame that you don't back up your product with any support whatsoever becaus it's an exellent idea even if implemented exeptionally poorly. Though most of the features are really only usful as a novelty like the ET 1/4 mile times I like neveltys and was willing to pay a little extra for them.

To anyone considering this pruduct, if you need a reliable tool that will work when you need it, Do Not buy ProScan. If you have money to burn and want another novelty toy and don't mind if you can't alway use it when you want to then go ahead but be warned you will be on your own once they get the money.

Mr Gore why can you update your site to list the warranty as 3 minute 3 miles.:screwy:

I am so disappointed in Gore Research. I have called and called and mailed and mailed. I think I am just plain going to have to send a registered letter to this person to get some help. They did OK before but I don't know why they have fallen off the face of the earth.
