Cleaning out the head

So I'm replacing the springs, retainers, and camshafts in my H23 and of course I manage to bend a valve...big surprise. So anyways, rather than leaving the head on and doing the work, now the head is off. My question is, while the head is off, is it worth doing and cleaning to the valve, ports, pistons, or anything? If it really won't do much, I'd like to just get my engine put back together, but if it's worth it and helps rejuvenate the engine at all, I guess now is the time to do it. And as appropriate as it would be right now to get it P&P and such, I certainly don't have the funds, so please don't suggest that. Thanks for any help.

p n p should be done by the pro only...you can clean up the combustion chambers and valves. perhaps you may want to hand laps the valves slightly just to clean up the seats. use the fine compound and replace all the guide seals.
