Engine Change

I own a 1978 Mitsubishi Lancer and the original engine was now given out. I would like to put in a new one. And i have decided to invest between $700 and $1000 US. What are some recommendations for a good quality engine that will last awhile and wont require to expensive parts when something breaks. Id also like it to have some decent power. Any ideas?

Thanks

does it have the weber downdraft carb? are you keepin the tranny or is it going also? is it the 1600cc? i think they had a 2000cc version too. if you could find one of those and rebuild it. maybe find a dual weber setup. that would be sweet and keep it old school.

A great engine that could withstand a lot of pressure and can upgrade to withstand 450 hp would be the 4G63, but it might not fit your engine mounts, depending on what your car is.

I think when you change the engine that really, you should change the other parts too. Transmission, tires, BRAKES!
