I have a 95 GP and i saw i video of camaros, trans ams and corvettes sitting there and haveing their back tires spinning and creating tons of smoke. i was wondering if i could do that in my GP. the only diffrence is that i have front wheel drive. could i just push the breaks and give it gas and have my front wheels spin and make smoke?

See I told you so.

How's the kids? For everyone that doesn't know. Two of John's kids were in a car accident. Some asshole doing drugs hit the car they where in. Been sitting up nights thinking of things I want to do to him.

Hope the kids are doing well.

Thanks Jim. The kids are fine just a little banged up. I hope that asshole rots in a jail cell for a long time. Not a very good pic of the van but the best I could manage considering the impound lot was closed when I got there.

Take care John. Tell the kids out thoughts are with them.

set your parking/emergency brake. that will engage only the back brakes and you can burn out the front end all you want. just make sure that you have em sent really well and dont just floor it, your car will probably have enough power to drag it a little bit.

jon95se
02-17-2005, 06:59 PM
you could even just put blocks in front of the back tires.

Well get out of your driveway.
These guys are doing burn outs at a dragway. They run thur "water boxes". The used to use beach, but the smell would make you sick.
Take the car out to some lot. Take a gal. of water with you. Pour some under the right wheel. Hold the break, give it some gas. Now you more then likely don't have enough power to do the burns that those guys do. But if you don't light them up. SELL YOUR CAR!

Who need's a water box

You can make a kit, from a windshield washer bottle with a pump and then run the 2 hose to the fenderwells and pump away on the tires. If you really want to waste your tires  That was in an old Hot Rod mag along time ago, 101 cheap trick's.

What part of "water on the tires" don't you get?
Have you ever jumped on the gas on a rainy day? Tires spin. They do that till you dry out the payment. Then your tires start to heat up fast. Then they burn. Smoke can off them as the burn.

Larry,
Do you have anything to add to this?

im not saying your wrong but wont the car eventually start to move forward? i was just talking about staying in one spot and burning them out.

kustomkid54

The only way to sit in one spot with your car for any time, is only have back brakes. And it will let front tires spin a while longer. No one in their right mind wants to do that.
Why do you want to burn a set of tires off so bad? I know it looks cool .
You know my car was lighting up the tires at 30 and 40 mph. I paid a lot of money to get a set of tires that wouldn't do that. One of the things about fast cars, you want to stop the tires from breaking lose. If you want to put on a show, build a car just for that.
The guys that were on those videos, some were from the St.louis GP Club, which I belong to. Some of those guys will spend $400.00 just to make their cars do two tenths of a sec. faster. You get to the point that you can't go any faster with pulling half the stuff out of your car and replace it with "the new and better stuff".
There was a guy at Detroit Dragway that took two fire ex. and stuck them in his fender wells. When he would take off, he'd pull the pins. Car was a 6 cy. Chevy. Car wasn't fast, but it looked like he was burn the tires off his car.
Good luck

with front wheel drive you can usually do it by putting the emergency brake on. i dont know with gps, but all the cars iv driven the e brake only lock the rear wheels. give it a try

Use Bleach and water, do not dilute the bleach too much, if you want a really heavy white smoke, this is waht you need.

Water is OK, but the Bleach gives it a EXCELLENT effect. Gauranteed those previous videos had also had some bleach involved.

of course you can, hold the ebrake and give her some gas. If your tires are cold it might drag your car while you're burning them off. If you have a 5 speed try rolling backwards slowly then shift into first and drop the clutch and pull the ebrake, that will get your tires spinning. Here's a couple pics of my accord and my civic

well first off, you've got a 95 GP, most-likely with a 3.1L. Don't expect much of a performance out of it. Second, your tires are pretty much bald? That means your tires have more surface contact with the pavement, which in this case means more traction, you need new tires.

Third, learn to fricken read, Maybe to clairfy a little better, find one, five gallon container, fill approximatly with 5 gallons of water, just water. Move container to a smooth, clean open area of concrete or blacktop, such as a parking lot. Dispense water apon the ground moderatly. Position your one 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix above the water that has been dispensed. For more instruction on how to position your 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix , refer to your owners manual. With your vehicle (1995 Pontiac Grand Prix) positioned directed above the dispensed water, making sure the two front wheels contact the water. With your left foot, press down the emergency brake. You can then remove your left foot, as the emergency brake pedal will remain locked into place. Then proceed to shift your car into drive (For more instruction on how to position your 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix, refer to your owners manual.), With your right foot, push down on the accelerator pedal quickly. At this point your front tires will spin and heat up, causing the immediate evaporation of the water, causing smoke/steam. Your vehicle will try to move forward as your tires will always have some traction, the emergency brakes locked only the rear wheels, and thus provides some resistance to your car moving forward. Once spinning is complete and enjoyment has been had, the user can then release the emergency brake by pulling the release level.

As I said before, its probably a stock 3.1L, don't expect a show out of it. The subect of spinning your tires should not need to be dumbed down, but I had fun doing it.

I work in the E.R. At the VAMC in Cleveland, yes we get vets in there, but im a Pharmacist and trained in e. med. and we had a kid come in with 2 broken legs, 4 broken ribs, brain hem. (bleeding in the brain). He was stable when i left the e.r. and 10 min later i found out he flat lined. They could not get him back. He was a street racer, the car he was in, split in 2 when he hit a tree. He was doinf about 110mph when he hit, a cop did a radar on him. So if your going to drag race, do it at the strip, not the road. Please!

That aint no joke there buddy, I had a friend a while back who had a new 96 Camaro and wrapped it around a huge tree doing 80 while showing off in a residental neighborhood. Killed one guy, another sort of walked away, my friend had cracked ribs and hemeoraging (sp?) in his head and lungs, just beat to hell. Racing and showing off is cool but its not worthing killing someone over.

I know it's not a joke. After you get a hemeridge(sp) in your head IE. you usually have problem afterwards such as memory loss and some short term memory loss as well as longterm. Its not a site to see when you see such a young kid roll into the er after dragracing. I wish kids that do dragrace can see the end resolt of racing and showing off. Once they see this, hopefully this will knock some sence into the kids.
