Engine Swap

I'm wondering if the 2.2 engine/auto transmission out of a 1999 Sunfire
will fit into a 1996 car with the same motor
I have a wrecked 99 and I found a '96 with a blown motor
any help would be appreciated

there is quite a bit of difference but i'm not sure hwere the difference lies. I'm certain some of the wiring may be different, but as for the mounts i think they should be the same. I have a friend who put a 97 2.2 in his 94 cavalier with little difficulty. and since the 97 would be the same if not very similar as the 99, and your 96 is probably the same as the 94, it may not be very difficult, i'd ask him but hes away, so all i can say is check the mounts and see where they are, if they look the same its probably the case, but if not you could be opening a can of worms. If you talk to a good junkyard they will be willing to help you in any way they can providing information.
