code B1365???

99 GA SE V6 3400
Sometimes it won't start, and sometimes it quits while driving.
When it runs, runs great.
The scanner read B1365.
Help please!!!!!

What type of scanner is being used for this diagnosis? (I look for replies many times daily)

B1365 is: Ignition 0 Circuit Malfunction. Will reply once again when I try to help you diagnose "how to fix" the problem.

I will give you the easiest instructions I can on how to fix this problem. First of all you need to replace the ignition switch. (about $208.00 +tx at a GM dealer) if you can go to a salvage yard, thats the best bet.
First... Unhook the negative battery cable....
2... Remove the 2 screws under the steering wheel column.
3... seperate the top and bottom covers on the steering column (around the turn signal and wiper levers and ignition lock)
4... put the key in and turn it to the "On" position.
5... look on the back side of the ignition switch, you should see a little black metal button (you will need to use a pen or pencil to push in the button) Once you push the button, the ignition switch should pop right out, if not, pull it out while pushing the button.
When you put the new ignition in, push in the button and slide it in place.
If there is a wire you need to unplug on the ignition, that means you have a "Passlock" theft system. After replacing the ignition, and pluging in the wire, go ahead and put the covers back on.
Attach the negative battery cable. then TRY to start the car one time. The "Theft Sys" light should then flash. Let it flash until it stops (approx 10 mins) this allows the computer to relearn the ignition codes. after the light stops blinking, it should Start right up. KEEP ME POSTED.

These instructions probably are for an older model GA.
My ignition switch is on the dash, not on the steering collumn.
Are the instructions the same???
