I had my car taken to the shop today to get it fixed :) , and I want to drive it as soon as possible, so I had my dad go to the insurance company yesterday to see how much it will cost me. So, for my car in my sig, with me being 17, good grades, and everything else that dad could get for a discount, it will be $191.78 a month:eek:. I'm in driver's ed right now, but it won't count until I finish the class. I get about 300-320 a month after taxes from my job at Kroger's, so that's really rough. Dad said he would probably let me pay him 100 a month for it, and he will pay the rest. Does that sound about right for the insurance price?

i still think thats a little steep... does the insurance co. know that its not a V8? try geico, that's who i'm with. im 25, have a clean driving record and live in charlotte, NC, where insurance rates are outrageous. and i still don't pay anything near that. unless you are talking about FULL coverage, if you are talking about full coverage with no deductible , then that would be about right.

200 sounds about right for full coverage on a v8 with a 16 yr old driver rated on it.... not a v6 though.....

(all in my now blown up VW Bug) and im only paying $110/month for my 92' V8 Maro RS. (its under my family's insurance) and its only liability. o, and ive got a 5% discount for a B average. so itll be less than that. :) im set

This is just for minimum coverage, and I have a completely clean record. I'm pretty sure that dad told them it's a V6, because he's going to pay the rest of what I can't. I think my insurance company doesn't care if it's a V6 base model or a V8 Z28 with my age. My parents are stupid about almost anything new, they won't even try a new company. They give mom and dad a pretty good deal, but they screw me over. Mom pays 90 for her mustang and dad pay about 75 for his van a month.

When i got my 89 LeSabre T-Type when i was 16 it cost me $135 a month for full coverage, i think you're getting bent over on the price, try Progressive they generally have the best rates from my experience. You can get a free quote online as your browsing the forums.

and there is a big difference in the rating between a 91 z28 and a 98 z28. and i bet your not paying full coverage either

LuminaRacer05

That is the best way to play it, check and see what it would cost you if you had to pay on your own coverage with out you mom. I am just curious
