1990 325i HOOD RELEASE

I just recently pulled my hood release, the hood opened up. I checked my oil and proceeded to close the hood. It would not latch. I thought the problem might be inside at the handle. I checked out the handle and the cable is still connected but I can pull or push the handle pretty far in both directions. So I went to the other end. After taking a few things out of the cables way to view the cable. I realized the cable has disconnected from the latch. Any 1 have any suggestions other than the "DEALER" ???

If you remove the one side of the grill, you will be able to remove the latch assembly... see if you could open it up and fix the problem... I think the grill has two screws and maybe some clips on top that will pop off with a screwdriver
