problems with 97 jimmy

I recently bought a 97 GMC Jimmy, and have had a few (too many) problems with it. When I went to buy it, none of the 4wheel drive lights lit up and 4wd wouldnt engage. They fixed this (said it was some kind of wiring problem) and the 4wd worked great. Until about a week ago. When I shift it into 4hi or 4lo, the light flashes twice and then stays solid like it is engaged, but the font wheels don't spin at all. It thinks it is in 4wd, but it isnt. What could this be?

Also, I was clearing about 2 inches of snow off of my windshield and the driver side windshield wiper got screwed up. It moves, but the passenger one moves faster and hits the driver side, preventing it from going up. If I lift the blade higher up and then try it, it works, but the blade stops too low (it parks below the windshield). It seems like some kind of stop is broken. How can I troubleshoot this issue?

Transmission: It seems to shift fine until 4th gear between 40-55 mph. It keeps shifting up and down with constant throttle. It also seems like it slips sometimes. Is this a lockup problem, or is my transmission in need of a rebuild?

I just got rid of my 87 Monte Carlo SS that I spent a lot of money rebuilding and bought this because it seemed more economical to drive from Massachusetts to Indiana (I go to school in IN and live in MA), but so far it has been nothing but trouble. Please help! :banghead:

I fixed the wipers. All it needed was a new arm (the old one was stripped). Any advice on how to tackle the transmisison and 4x4 problems?

Thanks

My 1995 Jimmy, just quit running, it sounds like it is going to start and the tow truck guy said everything sound right, but it did not seem like it was getting any gas to start. Can anyone help me please.
