O2 sensor replacement

I have a 94 ranger 3.0 V-6. How often are the O2 sensors supposed to be replaced? I have 166,000 miles on the original ones. Is there a recommended time to replace them? Except for the air filter, everything is basically stock. Is there any special tools I need to do the job myself?
