29' Ford Rat Rod (modded)

Revell 29 rat rod series. Building it so it will look old.

Engine has
-upsidedown exhaust manifold for turbo
-weber carb in front of turbo
-oil lines for turbo
-spark wires
-weathered using thinned black (very good stuff)

Rusting front fenders. Is this authentic? My first try.

New pics later on.

Wow! Great job. That motor looks awesome, looks like something you'd see out in the junkyard. The rust looks really good too. A little substantial, but great job.

Not bad rust but may i offer some suggestions? next time you need to thin the plastic before rusting. a rust spot would never be that thick. if you look at a real rusted car the rust spot tapers out very thin, it wouldnt have the thickness around the edges. also the paint looks too new for a rusted out car so you should dust the fenders and such as well. hope this makes sense but for a first effort its a nice effect!

Hey,

Nice work so far. Where did you get the turbo from? Cool idea, hope the engine can take it tho. lol Keep up the great work.

Well, have you decided what to call this. I got new idea for the bed. Flip-style that is.

Turbo is scratchbuilt from part-trees. Maybe i'll do a How-To next time.

And for rusting. I'll probably make fender edges thinner and add some spices to simulate rust. Is that rust color ok?

Well, chassis is done. Engine is in place. Weathered chassis and suspension parts. Body needs some weathering too.

Hey,

Um...It looks 80's with the back tires sticking out. Are you keeping it like that? More pics of the engine work please. I am intrigued. Keep up the great work.

The front wheel covers look like they are off of a '64 impala ?

You did a great job on the engin , very detaild ! How did you make the fuel filter ?

You did a realy good job on the rust for it being you`r first time ! You do need to wether the paint though , you could try testors dull coat .

Added more rust to fenders. And two pics of the engine in better lightning.

Front wheel hub is from 64 impala if I recall. And fuel filter is some electronic piece.

This was on hold for a while.
Anyway, pics.

New door is glued to closed position. Old red door will hang because, the
lower hinges so rusted.

I made the bed like it could be lifted with that airpump.

Furried backwall. And red backwindow.

No floor at all. And a screwdriver in cupholder.

Nice!, but why did you but the carb in front of the turbo?
This will make the turbo pass an air/fuel mixture.
This setup isn't very usefull in cold weather, doesn't make much power and you can't use an intercooler.
I would have converted the whole engine to EFI.

Meh, just kidding, nice work!

Jurva

I know that setup isn't good. But i haven't seen that setup in model cars. Thats why i built it.

That`s the beauty of modelcars; you can build stuff that doesn`t work in real life!

Wow, great job , outstanding detail on the engin!

That set up would work in real life , just not as well as a blow trough set up.
