GSR vs. F22a

Okay I looked around in this forum but nothing really answered my question. Just a bunch of dumb ass questions too yall. Ne wayz I got a F22a from my accord that is worth nothing to sell I figured I would pull it and rebuild and put it in a Del Sol ( not a bad idea) I had some questions sinse the F22a is a lot bigger will this be a problem swaping Im mainly worried about if the transmission will fit properly. I see a lot of how- to's for H22a swap for accords-civics wondering if anybody had any for this situation. Also If there are too many problems with this would I be better off going with a GSR. Also which do yall think would be more of an advantage?

See You @ the track

If its an h22 to civic guide it will be generally the same for the sol. And if i had an H22 just chillaxin id put it in my sol in a heartbeat.

Its not though its the single cam version of the H22 but still has VTEC thats Why I wanted to know would it be better to to have a smaller but DOHC or a bigger engine with single cam considering they both VTEC.

Go with the B18C1 it has a bigger aftermarket than the F22A. :2cents:

to my knowledge, an F series engine won't fit in a sol mainly because no one makes mounts for it.

Do yall have some lists of some sites I can go buy engines, mounts, tranny's, wiring harnesses. Why couldn't I just use the mounts from my Accord and do some minor refabrication. I really dont want to spend the money to buy a new engine. Yall have been really helpfull though. Thanx. Either way the car is going to be fast as fuck!!

Dude.... do not TOUCH your engine... please... until you sit down and research... a lot.... Why won't accord mounts work? Cause the accord is a DIFFERENT CAR... The only cars that the del sol shares pieces with is the 92-95 civic, and there's a FEW CR-X pieces that bolt on here and there.

Putting an F motor in a Sol is the worst idea i have ever heard. That engine is so weak. You'd be better off putting the D series SOHC VTEC in one if you don't want to pend a lot of money. By the way, The F22 is in no way shape of form the SOHC version of the H22. They are dofferent all together. Only the DOHC VTEC mtors were built with performance in mind, so i would go with one of those if i were you.

Thats why I have a lovely forum like this to ask questions before actually acting upon it. Okay so I understand now that the F22 is prolly not the best descion then. Of coarse not stock but I was planing on rebuilding it......maybe not now. We have two Del Sol's in our Car Club with LS's & GSR's in them. if you said that the only peices that bolt up right with a del sol is a 92-95 civic and a few CRX how is this possible. Is it because there is a big market for mounts and pecies for these engines like whtteg said earlier. It makes sense..... Yo guyz thanx for all the help and answers.

Yes the LS and GSR swaps are very common and I think you can just use a set of Del Sol VTEC motor mounts to bolt in a B18A,B,orC.

Ok, so i was grossly tired when i wrote that and seriously thought you said H22 not F22 hah. Yea, in that case, id go with the GSR.

The only F series motor I would even remotely think about trying to wedge in a sol is an F22C1.... the S2000's powerplant. :D

and the parts bolting up isn't because there's a bigger market... it's because the chassis is basically the same... the sol was originally built on a CRX chassis, which is why the 92 and 93 sols VIN number starts JHMEH6... EH6 is the CRX chassis code... 94 and after, it's JHMEG2, which is the 92-95 civic code. :)

Yeah, that's right. The Del Sol VTEC mounts are B-series mounts and are compatible with any other B-series motor. Integra motor mounts will work as well - they're the same ones I believe as the Sol VTEC mounts.

GhostRyder:
The F22A is a SOHC economy engine. It has decent torque, but if you're looking for something on the performance side, you're better off either sticking with the D16Z6 or any B-series motor for your Sol. The swaps are very common so you have a lot of aftermarket support and frankly you have more options available for performance upgrades on a B-series or D-series motor than you do the Accord F-series. The D16Z6 can be had relatively cheap or a B18B1 (Integra LS) is also typically inexpensive compared to the VTEC motors.
