Re-Flashed ECU

I recently went to the ATS website and was thinking of re flashing my ECU for this spring. I was just wondering how good of a company they are? If this will take care of fuel tuning or if the SAFC is a good idea on top of the Re-flashing? And if this is will greatly improve how the car runs and how well it makes power?

you can buy one from me (verified w/wideband+) or take your chances on EBAY or other "for sale" forums

how do i know its set up for my car? arent those just basic upgrades? Vinshnu uses the same ROM style tuning on there 600hp evos why is this not as good as you say?

kinda hard to explain without getting longwinded -- the EVO and MR2 ECUs are WAY different in terms of programibility -- just because a EVO can get ROM tuned good -- the MR2 just can't -- has alot to do with the built in programming which when deceived (ROM tuned) the OEM program fights tooth and nail all piggyback changes -- is more of a recepie for disaster IMO -- but it seems the Japs have better control over the ECU functions and their ROM tuned ECUs have drastically better results

What do you mean by "drastically better results"?

umm -- BLITZ ECU, 550cc injectors, t-67 turbo @ 18psi = reliable low 12 to high 11 sec car -- try that with a ATS ROM tune or G-force... won't happen....

First, I didn't say I wanted my car to be that fast, I want to max out the factory turbo first. My goal is a 13 flat to beat my friends GTO by a half a sec. So I don't need a huge T-67. I plan on going T3/T4 from KO racing. My main goal with this car is to be fast in the corners not in a line. The ATS system will do just fine on my nearly stock set up. Once I upgrade the Turbo then and only then I'll go Stand Alone.

exactly -- and i haven't seen a Techtom tuned ECU compare to my car with MINES,SARD or BLITZ ecus..........

yes i realize that but your running a serious turbo with serious injectors. Did you not read the first reply? When i want to go that far I will. It will not benifit me any to upgrade to such an expensive ECU with out even pushing that much horsepower / torque to the ground! Besides as i said before i dont want a 12 sec car the fastest i want it to be is high 12s. 13 flat is my goal and you can achieve that with 300whp.

ok -- well -- with stock 440cc injectors and stock ECU with no piggybacks we ran a 12.5 @115 mph in the 1/4 with a standard GReddy TD06 kit, 3" b-pipe, GReddy SP cat back, external fuel pump, rising rate FPR, boost controller set at 18 psi, GReddy sidemount i/c, ACT stage1 clutch, heavy 17" street tires, 2.0 60' time

But what about your fuel curve didn't it run rich? I want it to be relieable.

what we had as a FPR was similar to the cartech adjustable AFPR -- can adjust base pressure -- pressure ratio from 1:1 to?? -- can adjust the "gain" which regulated when the FPR will be adding more fuel and how much -- with a wideband/datalogger and that AFPR you can keep your fuel curve where you want it...
our MR2 with the TDo6 got around 30mpg on the freeway -- we ran it hard for 2 years before the cylinders got distorted -- WI would have kept that at bay.... but hindsight is 20/20

in wanting what you want from the car, the cheapest and safest way to do everything is with a stand alone system. though you said you don't want it till up get a new turbo, you can get about 250rwhp out of the stock engine by making it do what you want (with only basic mods, like intake and exhaust).
i'd say just suck it up and get an AEM EMS if you can :)

You are mis-informed. The ATS Rom upgrade uses considerably newer technology than the Mine's ecus. Also the ATS rom upgrades are custom tuned to each customer's modifications. Mines, JDM, Blitz ecus are just a hope that the ecu was tuned somewhere even close to the customer's modifications.

well -- i haven't had the pleasure of running one of the ATS ROM tunes like i have the JDM modded ECus..... but the G-force ECUs i have used have been horrible

It is all in the tuning. Sard, Tom's and K's all use the same hardware as G-Force.

Aaron 110% correct! but somehow all of the g-force ECU owners are getting "short changed" IMO
