Sound Systems

Seeing as I am finally putting together my sound system, I wanted to know what everyone else has in their blazers. I installed my car deck 2 days after purchasing my 1997 blazer used, but I never had the money to invest into a car sound system. I purchased an amp on ebay which I like, and little by little am investing into the sound system. All I need is some subwoofers, and my setup is complete. This is what my system looks like:

My brother used to have that head unit before theft, but it was good. I didn't like it too much because it didnt' have the 13band equalizer installed into the deck, like the 860 and the 960. but Pioneer stereos are the best in my opinion. Most car install people will have pioneer, and I know a few (including myself) who prefer it to Eclipse. if you want reliablility, and inexpensive stereos, go for pioneer. even alpine is expensive. As for the speakers, I was going to go for those, because I didn't know what fits the doors, and I wanted to get the thinnest models possible. If i am correct, those are the slimline Infinitys that are made for tight spaces. I opted for memphis, as I love the tweet memphis speakers produce. If you know where they sell memphis stuff, go check out some of the speakers. they are in my opinion the best speakers with the cleanest tweet. As for the amp, I love the old school stuff myself, and I can't deny that the older model amps really lasted. I have an old MTX RT2200 so, I understand where your coming from with that amp. The Subwoofers i don't really think they hit that hard. pioneer needs to stick with the electronic stuff, and leave speakers and subs alone. Subs are made to HIT, and pioneer subs can't handle too much. I'm thinking of getting some Kicker or RF. JL is the way to go, if you got the $$. I used to push 4 10" profile Bajas. Cheap ass shit, but they hit harder than you think. I used to have guys throwing up after listening to them, and I ran them off that old MTX 2200 amp. very funny, but the boxes were extremely huge too. Anyways, nice setup. I bet it does hit hard!!

The pioneer subs are actually very good.
I love the infinity 6.5s though, they have directional tweets and they will pretty well rip your ears out.

Yeah, like I said, I wanted those speakers before I opted out to by the Memphis. I like your ride, and a body kit does make the blazers really stand out. do you have altezzas? if you don't, PLEEEZZZE don't ruin it with the regular altezzas. Go for the dark chrome or carbon fiber ones. Your Blazer is black, and it needs dark lights. As for an air dam, That's really up to you since it really doesn't add much to the vehicle visual wise, or performance wise. BODY KIT, YES!

You haven't seen a blazer with the Wings west airdam on it have you.
Looks completely different.

Hey, I have a two door, so i have grown older and actually started to value my hearing, i have toned it down, a lot, I first started with a sony ABP (the one that looks all black when the car is off) head unit, then sony mids and highs, and sony amps for the mids and 2 12" kicker Comp vr with a 2x200 @ 4ohm sony amp, then I changed to an audiobahn amp with a pair of 12" awt1200 the ones with a 180oz and those thing hit hard, but like i said i have toned it down a lot so now i only have one audioahn 12" with a 1000 watt amp, it si still loud cuz the blazer is all open so you can her the sound perfectly. good luck
