Greddy Turbo Questions

Has anyone had any experiance with a greddy turbo kit and/or their intercooler kits...? If so i have a few questions

1) How is the quality of the kit over all

2) where any modifications preformed in order to get the kit to work/fit properly

3) How is the kit for daily driving

4) could the kit be "bolted on" without dyno tuning for a long period of time (i.e. 2-4 months)

5) has anyone had the manifold crack

6) any other issuses that have become known since your install?

Thanks guys for any and all help... i am just trying to decide if i want to purchase rims and a kit or do i want to get a turbo and intercooler instead

my b/f (90CRXZCSi) has a 2000 Civic Si turbocharged and he loves it.

1) The quality of the kit is awsome.
2) It hardly took anything...everything was rather easy.
3) Good for daily driving....pretty good gas mileage
(if you dont race 24-7)
4) i think that would be fine. The only reason for that is to see your HP
5) he has only had his for about 2 months and no problems so far.
6) Everything has ran beautiful since the day of install.

As for the choice...i would make it a sleeper and go turbo first and then go with the Kit and rims.:D

4). Anytime you do a heavy modification to your car, its a good idea to DYNO tune it. Since more air is being forced into your engine, the fuel has to be adjusted to meet it. DYNO tunning can not only let you know your HP level. But also your fuel curve. Lets say you turbo your car and your first DYNO run you put out 230WHP. If the fuel, cams, valves ext. are tunned properly, you could easily gain another 20-30HP. Its also important to have a boost, fuel, oil, and air/fuel gauges available to monitor your engine.

Booster, assuming that i have no other parts on the car except the turbo kit and a exhaust, would i then still need to tune it? Also i am thinking about just keeping the Greddy FMU and not going stand alone, should i still dyno tune? the reason for not going stand alone is because the closest dyno that i havefound is 2 hours away...

Even thou all you have is an exaust and turbo, you are still feeding more air into your engine. The whole point is to balance out the fuel/air mixture to prevent detonation and other problems. A good fuel/air mixture is 14.7. Dont go to lean or rich cause you will experience problems.

Its really up to you, but if you really want to get out your turbos full potential, i would DYNO. Make the sacrifice!! Make sure you also go to a dyno that gives you your fuel readings. I forgot the name of it. Some people have dynos that wont give you this info.

Thanks booster for your input but heres another question. How would you tune it if you don't have anything to change your A/F ratio i.e. V-AFC or something to that effect...

heres my reasoning for asking this is because the greddy turbo kit comes with a FMU that from my understanding has already been optimized for the proper A/f ratio... i could be wrong but hey i'm still learning and the kit isn't even out yet...

Some shops can tune your air/fuel settings through your ECU (computer). All the VAFC really does is just that. Its attached to your computer and lets you re-program the original fuel settings. If the Greddy Turbo kit comes with a FMU that has the settings on it already. I guess the car will run of the new settings. You might want to ask Greddy about that.

Also does the Greddy Kit come with new injectors and fuel pump? Just incase it doesnt, you might need those to feed the engine the fuel it will need.

i'm sure about 320 cc injectors but not about a high-flow fuel pump i'll have to check... and i never knew that people could tune the stock ECU, if so thats really cool

Thanks Booster
