Do any of you just start thinking sometimes why you do this? Like sometimes I will think whats the point in modding my car? For what I have put into my Civic I could have almost paid for my college. Then I think about getting out of the modding game and just have a car just to drive. Then for some reason a few min. later I find myself thinking about what I am going to buy next LOL

You can't get out of modding a car. Not until it beats everything else at the track. :)

I know exactly what you're talking about. Like today when I realized that it's going to cost me over $10G's to do what I want with my car. So on top of that I'm planning on going to school (Wyotech), buying tools, getting the hell out of my parents house, and buying a new drum set. I was supposed to be done with my car 1 or 2 years ago, but now it's looking like I've got about 2 or 3 years until I'm done with it (hell maybe even that long before I start on it). I feel your pain, but it is just a vehicle.

Ya, im racking up quite the bill with just my motor alone... but it will be worth it in the end, and im also going to WyoTech in Oct (PA campus), so.. we'll see what life brings me, all i know is im pretty much stuck with my car now because i would never get back what i just put into it... oh well, 6-700hp is only a turbo kit and axels away right now.... hehehe

That's the one I'm planning on going to too (PA). I'm going to have to wait at least a year though, so I can save up some loot to live off of while I'm there. Now I just have to save up the $ and figure out if I want to go for body repair or auto tech :D

i say auto body, because as advanced as the engines get, people are aways gunna be hittin shit. so we'll always have a job, even if technology make a maintainence free engine.

sweet :) i haven't gone to college yet, not sure if i plan on doing so either. Still deciding what I want to do.

I haven't really even modded my car, besides the new wheels and some other small things. Sometimes I ask myself if it's worth it. Then I go and see how much another car I'd like to have costs. For the money I put into another car, I can make my civic nicer and more of how I want it to be.

But from what I can see, no one is ever really done with their car :)

'94 CX: $1,750
Slipstreams w/beat tires: $200
Short Ram, FPR (not installed), Fuel Pressure Gauge (don't know if that's what it's called): All in 1 sale; $50
Cheezy autozone intake filter: $25

Spark plugs: $6 :D
Pioneer speakers, 2 Pioneer decks (my a-hole bro sold me a broken one): $380
Total: $2,511

i say auto body, because as advanced as the engines get, people are aways gunna be hittin shit. so we'll always have a job, even if technology make a maintainence free engine.
Exactly what I was thinking. And most of my friends are mechanics so I can just pay them with beer and they'll do the work for me, or I could trade body work for mechanical work if I get good at it. And I really want to take their Chassis Fab and High Performance Engines course too

Dude, auto-mech school is cheap then compared to a BA and MA from a university. I have to pay back much more in financial aid. I spent about as much as doug294 did buying and fixing my 944 and it was still a POS. I maybe put 5grand total into my crx including replacing the engine, tranny, springs, and lots of other parts, stereo crap and a couple of tows. Maybe I'm just lucky but having had new axles put on before I bought it, I've put about 45k miles on the car and beat the living crap out of it and the boots have not a single sign of tearing or anything. I bet if I fixed the body up a little, replaced the struts with some cheap gr2's, replace the oil pan gasket and 02 sensor my ricey crx will just keep going. Honestly, I think about getting rid of it all the time, but where am I going to find a car with as many modifications that I know isn't beat up by some non-driving punk for under $3,000. Nowhere around here that's for damn sure. But hey, if anybody wants my ride in the SC area, make me a reasonable offer.

Sometimes like now I wonder why.. I'm sure the cars cost me over 14Gs since originally purchaced just in mods and the cost of the car.

But then I drive it, and I stop wondering why. ;)

Cars are extensions of ourselves. Look at someone's car and you can tell a LOT about them. Some people see them as simply transportation, point A to point B kinda stuff, some people see them as a tool to take them exploring the country side, some see them as a hobby, pushing them to the extremes of speed, and rough terrain. Remember no matter what someone says, your car is you!

Whats wrong with your GST? I have a 96 Eclipse GS that I am going to turbo. I heard the 420A motors are actually better to build off of than the 4G63
