Ok, so I'm lifting my '96 Cherokee 3 inches. I plan to purchase 31 X 10.50 tires but keep my rims. The rims I have are 15x8's from a 2001 Cherokee. SO! My question is, will they fit? Will I have any rubbing?
Hope that makes enough since.

How wide can you go with 15x7s and 15x8s?

you can squeeze a 32x11.5 on an 8 inch rim
A 31x10.5 is as big as is recommended on a 7.

Just to clarify, the second set of numbers is the width. You can run as tall of a tire as you want it doesn't matter. Example, I at one time had 33x10.50's on my TJ. On 8" wheels as a matter of fact. The 8" wheels are not the best in that situation, with a 10.50 tire width due to potential bead loss. Especially when aired down for off road use. Squeeze a 32x11.50 on a 8" wheel? You can run 38x12.50 on a 8" wheel if you want. A 8" wheel is the preferred width on a **x12.50 tire.
