OK Now that i have the wiring figured out, i need help with the tranny. Ok I am putting the D16Z6 into a CRX Hf. If i bolt the 91 Civic SI tranny to the motor will i have to make any mods to shift linkage and will i have to get a differ CV Axel? Please help, i think with this last piece of info, i'll be readdy to get the job done. i am very excited about going vtec and i just want to make sure i am doing all of this the right way so it all works the way it should. Thanks Scott

As long as your 89 HF was a 5spd which they prolly all were i dont see you havig any probs with si upgrade unless your si upgrade is comming from a 88 si cause they had a different spline count on the input shaft

Apreciate the help guys, i plan on using the 91 civic si tranny because it's a cable tranny like the one i have already, at least thats what i have been told, if any differ let me know. I am just trying to do this with the least amount of mods cause i am doing it my self and i want to make sure everything fits together just right. Make a nice clean job out of to where it looks like that was the way it came. I just want it to look good and do good if ya know what i mean

if you use the Si tranny, the shift linkage will work the same. the spline count on the axles however, that is different. the HF uses the smaller size axles, so either continue using your HF axles and hope they hold up (they should, its not like you are going crazy with power to them), or swap your front knuckles to Si or 4door EX knuckles to use the bigger spline size.

What would you do if you were doing this for a car for your self and what all would i need in order to make that conversion if it is much more reliable or if it dosn't make a difference on reliability let me know. Cause my hope one day is for either a turbo or supercharger so for the long run what do i need to make it work right.

those HF axles are not going to work on the Si tranny, HF axles have 24 splines and Si have 26. So they wont fit. And yes your shiftlinkage will work just fine.
And not to burst your bubble but don't be too excited about the vtec on that z6, its not going to hit that hard like on a dohc, its just more of an extention of the powerband.

I would not use no piece of shit HF tranny, its geared like shit. all you really need is to have new knuckles pressed into your hubs, but its usually easier just to get new hubs.

I am thinking for the time being to use the HF Tranny so that i will have enough $$$ to get my body work finished and painted and then when i get enough $$$ again i think i want to put the whole 91 CRX SI Brake system so i can have 4 wheel disk brakes and then go ahead and change the front hubs and axels so i make sure and have a good factory brake balance between front and back. Does that make any since to anyone or am i just lost here.

i think you should get the tranny before you do paint. you'll thank yourself later.

Yeah get the si tranny first. You will thank yourself because if you use your HF tranny you'll have to redline all the time to keep your rpms high enough (standing on the gas between gears) to keep it in vtec. If you use a vtec controller and activate it at lower rpms that's cool but I doubt you'll be getting the full potential of it. Just my .02...
