Headlamp bulbs

Hello all,
I was advised to change the stock headlamp bulbs with sylvania silverstars for maximum lighting and a better look on my 2004 LS. My concerns are...(1) would it void my warranty and (2) based on the amount of heat produced i was told it could melt the wiring which would then void my warranty. Are these statements true?

Pretty much every one of the aftermarket headlamp bulbs I have found will NOT void out your warranty.

I added some aftermarket bulbs (the names of which I can't remember) that are 80watt low beams & 100 watt high beams & I have had absolutely NO problems whatsoever. If there is any additional heat generated from the bulbs, it hasen't effected my headlights at all. Plus they aren't any hotter to the touch over the standard bulbs.

I had KYO 4500K bulbs (CRAP), had them in for about 6 months and they melted the harnesses for both the driver and the passenger sides. The dealer at first was not going to replace the harnesses under warrenty, since the KYO bulbs where deemed the cause. After some coaxing I finally got them to replace the harnesses. Or you could go to Lowes and get a heavy duty harness for a couple of buck and replace them your self.

No problem w/ the silverstars... had them for over a year... no harness problems... no void warranty...

The makers of the bulbs that I bought I think were:

GP Thunder with a rating of 8500K


Going down the dark roads that I do, I hold the pass to flash feature back lighting up the low beams & the highs at the same time & I still have had no problems. I normally would hopld it for lengths of 10 seconds & longer......

Like ZsTB, I too had installed cheap high vis bulbs (55watts) in my LTZ and the plugs and wiring melted down.
The wiring for the low beams are an awfully flimsy gauge so be ware.
