I have an '88 jeep cherokee cheif 4.0 litre with command track and was wondering if anyone had any ideas what it would take to convert to a selec trac. I believe with command track that I can only pretty much have part time 4 wheel drive and I would like to have Full time So once I get into trail riding I have that option. I would apreciate any help or ideas what it would take to get this project on the road.

Just to clear up terminology...
- FT means you can run it on any surface - provided you have 4 matching tires that is. This requires either a differential in the TC or a viscus coupling or both to allow for the front and rear tires to turn at different speeds.
- PT means you need to have reduced traction conditions to use. These often do not have a way for the front and rear tires to rotate at different speeds.
So, what your asking for sounds like what you have. From what I can find, you have either a 228 or 229 TC. If you have the 229, you have a FT / PT set up anyway. If you have a 228, your still in business for off-roading.
