this is a 2004 elantra with 25k miles. I have changed the oil every 4k miles and kept up with the maintainence, however about 2 weeks ago I noticed....
If i am idling its about 750RPM, the car will start shaking violently, the RPMS will go down to about 400-600 and it will ALMOST stall out but then return to normal idle.
Sometimes when I am driving at a low RPM like 1,000 (esp going up a hill at a low RPM) the same thing will happen, it will start shaking and feel like it wants to stall out until I either press harder on the gas or let go of the gas .. its like the car is not getting enough gas or air or something, i dont know what it is .. anyone have any ideas? thanks

Your car is covered bumper to bumper under the warranty. Take it to the dealership for check up. You did not indicate any CEL so I don't know if the diagnostic computer can figure this problem out. Sound like your idle setting is screwed up. Any other symptom (i.e. bad gas mileage)?

acutally the gas mileage has been very bad lately, the only thing is I did not take it to the dealer to get the oil changed every time. I dont want them to say prove that you maintained it because most of the time i changed the oil myself. Im not willing to pay any money for the service, is this going to be a problem that I do not have proper records?
Thanks for your advice too, and yes the gas has been bad.

Check Engine Light (CEL) come on? If so, take it to Autozone or Advance Auto part store to get it diagnosed before you take it to your dealership/or repair shop. That way you know exactly what is wrong with your car and not get ripped off. Good luck.

Your concern about not having the regular services done at the dealership seems to be a common one....I have never had a problem with maintenance issues and warranty repairs...All oil changes and minor maintenance have been done by me...I try to keep the receipts of the parts I buy, but have never been asked to provide them....2001 elantra with 69K. So, unless the car has been obviously abused, they should honor the warranty....however, for future reference...I would keep all receipts done (either by you or by a private shop).

You Need To Sho Proof Of Maintenace Such Like All Receipts
For Purchase Of Services Done And Sometimes They Will Take Reciepts For The Products For Ther Oil. When I Bought My Elantra I Had The Same Problem They Had To Change My Maf And My Fuel Pump. Take It To The Dealer No Matter What It Doesnt Hurt To Take It In

your Fuel filter is probably clogged...happens with the hyundai's.....puttin in cheap gas from mom and pop gas stations..? sound familiar??? Just take it to the dealer, I have owned several new cars and have modified all of them...Intake, Exhaust, Own maintenance, etc...never one been asked to show records or anything...you bought a car with a 10 year warranty...GO TO THE DEALER!
