rear struts

my 1997 gtp has had a rattle coming from the rear end for a while now. Pretty sure it's the strut on the passenger side, so my question is are they hard to change or do I have to take it in. By the way thanks Big L for the help with the lean code. It was a bad injector.

This will give you fronts and rears. Rears are a pain in the the the yea rear. (I kill myself sometimes).

Hardest part on the rear's is having to work in the trunk,laying on your back.Make sure you have a buddy help you and get yourself a 15 mm ratchet wrench to get at the far back nut's.You will want to un-do the top 3 nuts first,then remove the nut's for the swaybar end links,now it's time to remove the two 21/22 mm cant remember which, of the top of my head.Oh and be very carefull of the screw's in the rear deck when removing the top three nut's.Seems GM used a sheet rock type of screw and they will get ya.I had scratch's all over the top of my hand's when finished or better yet where some Mechanic's brand gloves :wink:

They are really no different than the front ones. I replaced all four in about 3-4 hours. exept as stated above working in the trunk. Good luck finding coil springs if you need them. I just replaced mine at 136,000 miles and they are a dealer only unless you get lowering springs. they are $52 a piece for the rear and $94 a piece for the front from a dealer.

Dont forget that you also need to replace the sturt mount's.That could also be your problem,if you'r still on stock strut's.It made a big difference when I changed my struts and springs,but I went with the GMPP Konis.A world of difference !
