As long as honda doesn't screw it up. Look at how GM messed up the GTO, now they're almost 50% off at dealers.

its not a crx its a totally different car, the crx was based off the civic, this is like a crx but its nothing like a civic.

NO MORE CRX IF THEY COME OUT WITH A CRX IT WILL TOTALLY DEFEAT THE PURPOUSE OF LOVING THE CRX BECAUSE THEY DON'T MAKE THEM ANYMORE!!!
I really don't want them to re-release this legend of a car.
Please Honda... DON'T DO IT!

^^I sort of agree because i think they would butcher the design.

A new CRX would be way heavy and very likely just not as cool as the original. The CRX is cool for the same reason the oldschool Bug is cool, and a new CRX would be not cool for the same reason the new beetle is not cool.

Has anyone seen the concept design. It looks like a short celica. i thought it was a toyota when i saw it. It's not a CRX they need to call it something else

I wish they would use the 88-91 CRX model to work off off. Change the interior and make the body a little more flowing. Then just use K20 motor.
Also offer a performance model. As far as engine use the new AWD Acura system with a turbocharged K20. Just think. I Rex that weights about 2300-2500lbs, AWD, and shooting out about 300hp stock. If only my dreams would come true.

ive seen that concept pic a year ago.
i disagree with the "cool" factor. its all about function. as far as a new crx being heavy, new technology will make the car LIGHTER. ie: Honda Insight, Aluminum Body, about 1800lbs-1900lbs loaded. btw, they did make a CRX after the EF's ended... Del Sol!
you guys forget about the main intended purpose of the crx; fun car that has great fuel economy. it came with a small engine for a reason. imo, the insight would be a PERFECT replacement; good fuel economy, good handling, light-weight body, and 2-doors.
a turbo awd system would be overkill really, unless theyre trying to build a sports car(wait they already have: S2000 and NSX). just make it versatile(aftermarket preformance and swap wise) and itll be a good platform.
Im hoping Honda does come out with a new "CRX"(may not be a CRX, but with the same concepts), hell a Insight Si would be nice.

Well first of all the CRX was available with a 1.6L SOHC in the U.S. and a 1.6L DOHC in other countries. Where do you get this as a "small" engine. 160hp back then was good in a 4cyl.
Second of all why not have a turbocharged AWD rex? Honda needs a car to compete with the WRX, STI, Evo, and now the SRT-4 (not AWD but still). Think about it, if they offered a AWD turbocharged rex that was pushing stock 300 hp for around 22-25K they wouldn't sell? I would buy one in a min over a S200 or NSK.

1.6 liter is still small, and they were able to get that hp using VTEC, which allowed for fuel economy and hp.
if they were to build a car to compete against the impreza, evo, and srt-4 then they would have to change alot: for one, those cars are sedans(for more weight on all the wheels), you wouldnt want a 4-door CRX would you? secondly, those cars are heavy compared to the crx. in a issue of Best Motoring they demonstrated the advantage of a lightweight car; they had all these VTEC race cars race each other and the CRX(with a semi-stock B18C) came out on top. they said it weighed 700kg and was able to beat the nsx through turns and the straight. if honda was to go against the rally cars, i would say the accord or civic sedan would be a better platform, but honda has no experience in building rally cars and i dont think they want to. if you ever notice how honda built their motors, they always put fuel economy before power. a turbo engine will have less mpg.

That BestMotoring vol. is awesome "Roaring VTEC:The Battle at 10,000 rpms" and yes that track CRX beat out all those other vtec cars. And you are absolutely right about the sedan issue. Those other turboed sedans made by other manufacturers are street versions of the WRC race cars. If you know anything about WRC, Honda really doesn't compete in it. You don't hear about Peter Solberg saying how such and such driving a Honda was tough competition. However, Honda Accords have been used in road races up against BMW, Mercedes etc. but they were nothing like the ones you see people cruising the streets in. I think Honda/Acura races the TSX now instead. Now, however, Acura has the RL which has AWD but I seriously doubt it will be competing in WRC.

Edit: I guess there was also a v-6 legend that came with a turbo. Click here (http://www.users.bigpond.com/Racecraft/Performance_/Import/Honda_City_Turbos/honda_city_turbos.html) if you wanna read about the city

This is complete bull crap. Why the heck would honda make another model in it's lineup? I too thought for a while that they would release the crx for 2006 but I hate to break it to ya, it's not going to happen. Anything, if all, the honda "fit" will be the closet thing we'll get to any small car in the future. And since honda is all about cost cutting now (just look what they did with the suspension), it would be a risk for them to bring it out. Looking at that they have over 10 model cars out right now and they're bringing the "fit" over sometime the end of this year or next and thier new pickup truck the "Ridgeline", it'll be two more models to deal with. Also the civic si concept just deputed with a 200 hp engine, limited slip, and 6-spd......it will certainly be the second sporty performance vehicle of honda for buyers including the s2000.
Just looking at reality here, I highly doubt it will happen. But if by some chance they do, I'll take back what I said.

I still think the older ones would look better than the new ones, when lookng at the concept crx's. The originals will still be lighter i think even though technology is better, because honda will want it to be a safer car with better crash test ratings, therefore more sales. The new ones are gonna look to conventional, and it will be entirely new. i think the insights dont look bad as a crx. I ve heard of people converting those to crx's, by cuttindg out that rear fender which goes over the wheel. without that, the insight looks pretty close to a crx. Has anyone noticed or heaard about this?

well i found this pic on HT.com and it looks pretty cool. It was done in photochop, forgot the authors name, but i liked it and would like Honda to release this not as a CRX, but a new model name to compete with Scion and all other cars aimed at the young tuner market.

Neat "CRX." The rear window is a little borked but it looks neat. I would have used the Civic Si front, though. The RSX front makes it look a little nose-heavy.

The insights are not hard to upkeep ive heard, but its that damn rear fender which takes the crx look out of it. With that cut out, It looks just like em. The back hatch and everything. Ive heard of people conerting them and swappin out the hybrid engine. Need to start a new topic on the insight conversion to a crx. They are also great on gas...haha
