Are official parts Honda actually worth the extra expense?
I understand dealer only items you have no choice, but for the regular maintenance items from the local parts ?

Too general a question. It depends on the particular part (and also the age of the car - the older the car, the less you care how long a replacement part lasts). And, of course, the depth of your pocket.

I think the aftermarket parts have got a lot better than they were years ago.I use aftermarket parts, but I do not believe in getting the cheap parts.Carl

Yea it's really depends on what you are trying to get. I usually get aftermarket parts for something like body works all the way to pipes and hoses or even caps and headlamps.
But for safety devices such as airbags, I would just spend the extra bucks and get the official parts, but its really rare to find aftermarket airbags.
Though some aftermarket parts would void the warranty of your car, so choose it carefully.
