I've got a 1993 Grand Am. Has anyone recently replaced their water pump on a 2.3L Quad4 OHC engine? I've been chasing a coolant leak for three weeks now and after replacing the nearly every hose, i think it must be the water pump. The radiator was replaced last month ago for an unrelated issue.
Would anyone care to comment on the degree of difficulty in replacing the water pump? I'm debating on whether or not I should bring it to the dealer for service. Is this an expensive service? Also, if I replace the water pump, is there anything else I should check/replace while I'm there?
Thanks!

fairly hard to replace the pump, buddy.~~~~~
Quick rundown, so you can decide for yourself
1] detach O2 sensor
2] drain coolant
3] remove upper/lower exhaust heat shields.
4] remove bolt from ex. man. brace to manifold
5] lossen manifold to exhaust pipe spring bolts, one at a time
6] remove the pipe bolts
7] disengage exhaust pipe from ex. manifold
8] remove radiator outlet pipe from oil pan and transaxle.
9] drop the exhaust manifold
10] loosen the rear engine mount and bracket so you can clear.
11] Pull the water pump
Whew!!!!!!!!!! Up to you.

It was a $500 job when I had it done to my '93 2.3L last fall. Because the car is so old, a couple of the exhaust manifold bolts broke off in the block and had to get drilled out. That, and the fact that it's a tough job anyway made it expensive. You'll want to make sure that it's definitely the pump before you or anyone else has to do that job. :)
