I have a 72 mgb, stock except for an electric fan; I want to add a sound system, since it is currently devoid of one, and may have been stock without (??). Without undue rambling, I hope, (er..) how much current can these alternators put out? can i just drop 4 speakers and a deck into it without worrying, or do I need to check the alternator against the system draw?

The original alternator ACR16 has a maximum output of 34 amps. Low rpms and lots of night driving the output is less. I assume the electric fan is a back up for the engine driven fan. If you don't want a high powered stereo the alternator output may be enough for you needs if you don't do lots of night driving.
