Cold Air intake confusion

I want to put a cold air intake on my 2005 Sierra Crew Cab. All the manufactures make the same claim on HP gains/Torque gains. Does anyone have advice on how to choose one? WIll I really get the performance they claim, or just end up sucking in hot air? I lean toward K&N, but don't know if this is the best for my application.
Also, none of the manufactures have 2005 models...the newest they have is 2004, will this work for my 2005

K&N air filters do flow more air, but they don't filter particles as nicely as factory air filters.
I think it's a waste of money.

I have a 2002 gmc sierra 5.3 V-8. I installed a Volant cool air intake with the optional ram air tube.It is said to be the only true cold air system offered.Workes great.
