Seriously man, step away from the DVD! Anything you heard in that movie dont believe!

Double clutching has been covered so many times before. Search for it.

Fucking A! I hate Universal Pictures for making such stupid gay ass movies that fill the heads of morons with wrong info! Damn.

Double clutching is the newest fad. It was invented by Brian Spilner in 2001. Everyone who is anyone does it, and if you don't, you'll probably lose to a red rx7 driven by Dom.

Double clutching is used in downshifting, which is the reason it's a retarded line in Fast and the Furious.

Second, it's not needed in cars with synchros, although it will help them last longer.

Basically, when your downshifting, it's the process of going through neutral to get to the next gear. So say you're in 5th, you would push the clutch in, shift to neutral, let the clutch out, rev up the engine to the appropriate point for the lower gear. When the RPMs are up, push the clutch in and put it in the lower gear.. in my example, 4th.

Like I said, not really necessary.

Oh yes, and do try to use the search function.

Wait do you have to let off the clutch in neutral cant you just skip that step like your in 5th then you press in the clutch rev it up and put it in to 4th and then let off the clutch.

I believe that's just rev-matching. That one extra step in double-clutching is what helps the syncros.

rev-matching is used in racing to keep the weight balance of the car where it's supposed to be. for instance, if you're using up 100 percent of your traction points, braking in a turn, on the limit of adhesion, and you do a jerky downshift, your rear end may come unweighted and cause you to lose traction. rev matching really doesn't do anything to save your tranny. double clutching helps save it, but that's what synchros are for :)

I thought double clutching ment:
lets say your in 1st gear and about to shift into second..
u then shift into second at around 20mph.. u keep on rolling slowly and then push clutch in rev to about 6-7k rpm and take foot off clutch fast and hear tires squeek as u do a rolling-burnout.

you know whats a sweet technique? Going about 80 down the highway, then e-braking a 180, slamming it into reverse, and flicking people off while reversing 80. My and my friends do it every day. The only way you can do it, though is if you have a huge power adder on your car such as a muffler or carbon fiber shift knob. Once you get double-clutching down, you'll be able to do that in no time.

no way dude. you have to get some sweet ass neon underglow lights and then you can stare at your passenger for as long as you want, and because they glow so much, they give you the power to stop perfectly at ALL stoplights!!

and then if you buy one of those "tornado's", you get sooooo much increase in airflow you can burn out for like miles and miles.

lol, but you see, i can already burn out for miles because of my NOS floor mats and steering wheel cover. I'm about to get a NOS rear window sticker and liscense plate frame to boost my power to about 550whp. ANd when thats done ill take it back to my garage, and use my wide variety of tools to take off my front liscense plate. This reduction in weight will allow me to go at least 210mph.

So much bad info.

Rev matching is for DOWNSHIFTING so your car doesnt jerk. Important for not making your passengers think you don't know how to drive, and while racing because you can disrupt the cars balance with jerky clutch moves.

Double clutching is UPSHIFTING in a semi truck. It's used because some of the trucks didn't have synchro gears. Since modern cars DO, it's not used.

Don't bullshit in threads like this, you make it worse than it starts off with a lame question that can be answered by searching.
