We use lots of different abbreviations on the message forum to save time typing commonly used phrases and names. Some of these are…

Car parts:

CAI – Cold Air Intake

DIC – Driver’s information center (The readout above the center AC vents)

DP – Downpipe

FWI – Fenderwell Intake

KR – Knock Retard

NA or N/A– Naturally Aspirated (no supercharger or turbocharger)

PCM – Powertrain Control Module (The car’s computer)

SC – Supercharger

U-bend delete is a part of the exhaust that is restrictive and houses the down stream O2 that monitors the cat.

On the factory exhaust for your car, GM decided they wanted the O2 Sensor mounted vertically which resulted in what's been termed the U-Bend. This restrictive section of pipe causes added backpressure resulting in power loss. Modifying your car with a different intake system and/or smaller pulley only makes this restriction worse. Free up this restriction with our U-Bend replacement. Many owners have this piece fabricated and installed at a local exhaust shop for around $50-$75 or so. If you're having a hard time finding someone to do this, or you would just rather buy it pre made and have it installed, we've got it here for you. Because it requires welding to the catalytic converter, you will need to have it installed.

Bad if you live in a place that does emissions testing. In the St. Louis area, the are supposed to do a visual check to make sure a cat is in place.

Nice sig.

Florida doesn't have that anymore. But with the old farts hitting every car on the road, who needs it. :screwy:

if they do emission tests like they do here in ontario your most likely going to fail. canada is on board for the Kyoto Act and i'm pretty sure that they'll be testing there so it would be a good idea to shop around for a hi-flow cat before they sting you at the testing shop.
