I have two issues I could use some help on.
1. The A/C fan will not work on speed 1 (lowest). Is this a faulty switch or is it the resistor. Does anyone know how to determine the faulty component.
2. The light in the steering wheel volume switch is out. I think this is a sealed unit and I will have to replace the switch assembly. How do you remove the switch from the steering wheel?

The Blower motor resistor is what controls the speeds of the fan.
Replace the resistor!

Big-L,
Replaced the resistor last night. The fan now works on all speeds! Thanks.
Started to pull the volume switch out of the steering wheel but having some problems. It is about a 1/4" out but it does not want to come any farther and will not go back in. Any advice is appreciated.

I replaced the light last night and every thing is working great. Thanks for the great info sure sved me alot of money. Pontiac wanted 130.00 for the switch assembly. The light cost 1.98 at Radio Shack, and that was 2 pcs. in a pack so now I am set when the other side burns out.
The only thing I will add is that I had to remove the two screws on the back plastic cover on the steering wheel. This allowed me to move it just enough to get the wiring out of a clip to get enough slack to remove the switch assembly.

It seems like my only fan setting, fan setting 5 is weak now, almost as strong as the setting 3 was. Any ideas?
