E320CDI Avantgarde dashboard faults

My E320CDI Avantgarde has thermometer and gear indicators on the dashboard which only partially light up. After driving for about 4 hours the problem goes away. If the car has been standing for a few days less of the numbers light up. Does anyone know of a simple solution?

The only solution is to replace the display. On the older models they are replaceable but a bit pricey if you ask me(around 150.00) but on some of the 210 cars they may be part of the entire gauge panel but I'm not sure. I would guess you can replace it seprately though.

Thanks Talonlover, that's what I have been told by my Mercedes dealer, only the estimate is £300.

This company offers worldwide service and they also claim to be cheaper than dealer. Good luck. I haven't used the service, but I have the same problems you do with temp and gear selector/clock displays.

And this guy quoted me a price of $260 for E320 instrument cluster replacement w/mileage set. This is looking to be an option for me. I'll keep looking for a better deal.

Many thanks,
I received a courtesy call from RAC extended warranty, offering me a 5 star extended warranty covering all mechanical breakdowns including air conditioning, turbo, ABS and engine Control Unit for £40.00 a month. This seems like a good way for me to get this repair done and also to get the child seat sensor in the passenger seat replaced which has failed. This makes the airbag warning light come on and disarms the airbags!
