oil Pressure Warning buzzer

I have a mk2 golf gti 16v on a 90 plate done 130,000 running sweet at the mo apart from an annoying buzzer from behind the dash. The oil pressure warning lamp flashes but only when im doing 1500 rpm or more!! had it checked out by vw and they cant help, Any ideas plz its really doin my head in!!!

You might want to have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge. The oil light system can be a pain on your car, it uses two sensors, one on the end of the cylinder head & one on the oil filter housing. If I remember correctly the one on the filter housing would be the culprit in your case. The sensors are different so be sure to get the right one. Sometimes the systems just go bad, in that case most people will run a simple light to the sensor on the head & eliminate the dynamic system's electronics.

Also try running thicker oil ( 10w 40) Older 2.0's tend to loose oil pressure at higher miles (100k plus)
