So here's the comparo of four top notch GT's. Just tell me which one you'd pick for looks, exclusivity, quality, ride, handling, gearbox and etc...

1) BMW M6
2) Aston Martin DB9
3) Bentley Continental GT
4) Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

I think Aston is just too hot for words!

Hard choices, forget the Bentley or the M6, its between the Ferrari and the Aston, and I pick the DB9. The Scag looks too much like a TVR.

1) BMW M6
Despite the fact that I love BMW, and the M6 is my favorite current Bimmer, this wil not get my pick. Present company just outclass it, but they do cost 50k more.

2) Aston Martin DB9
Best looking by far, awesome engine, Aston Martin is quite possibly the sexiest manufacturer.

3) Bentley Continental GT
Sweet, but I want something a bit smaller and nimbler.

4) Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
Can't argue with the performance, but the bastard is just so ugly!

My vote goes to the Aston.

I would personaly go m6. Allot of that though has something to do with me really really really wanting an M3. lol
the farrari is nice for a 4-butt farrari. Front end isnt all that sexy though...
The the AM db9 is a very sexy classy yet edgy/sporty look to it but I have yet to hear anything good about how it performs. Everything I hear is it being a heavy rino when it comes to cornering.
That is, only what I have heard though so take that with a grain of salt.
I have no info on the bently, they are fantastic automobiles but quite a bit pricey too... only thing I ever hear about them lately is that only bid DAWGS/playa's drive them ya hea?
never the less the m6 gets my vote. Ever since I saw it I was like "ooh baby!"

The money conscious side of me says that this is obvious. The M6 will cost well under $100,000, (making it less then half the price of the 612) and will probably be more reliable then any of the others. If everyone likes this as much as the E60 M5, it will be an amazing car.

Money aside, I still love everything about this car. 500hp V10, 7-Speed SMG, some of the best styling in this class second only to the DB9. Its also a BMW, and I've had a great experience with them so far. I would also go so far as to say that its probably the 2nd most fun to drive and 2nd best handling car on this list.

I love how the DB9 looks, but my love for this car ends right about there. Easily the best looking car here, possibly in the world.

I've seen a Continental GT cruising around my neighborhood, and while its much much more radical then the standard Bentley, I still think that they are the really rich old mans Benz. Sweet Jesus is this car heavy (5350lbs).

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti takes the exact opposite approach that the DB9 does. It has a goofy name, and sub-par styling (for a Ferrari), but more then makes up for it everywhere else. Great handling, great engine, great driver's car. Probably the most fun you'll have in this class.

So give me the M6 on weekdays and the 612 for weekends, if not both, then just give me the M6.

Ford GT-40

My vote goes to the BMW though.

My initial reaction was: what the hell is a BMW doing in this company?

But, with a little more consideration, you realise that the Bentley is a VW (and an ugly one at that), and not what you would call sporty, weighing in at 680 tonnes. No thanks.

The M6 is next to fall. I'm sure its sporting credentials will be brilliant (supposedly laps the Nurburgring in 8 minutes dead), but it doesn't have the panache or exclusivity of either the Ferrari or Aston Martin.

So it comes to the 612 and the DB9. Tough decision. The DB9 is the better looking machine, but the 612 is the superior (and faster) car. Assuming i already have a track weapon in my garage and i am purely looking for a GT, the DB9 edges it. The 612 whips the Aston's ass in terms of performance but I don't think i could live with its looks. Throw in that stunning interior on the DB9 and i'll go for the Aston, safe in the knowledge that if i wanted hardcore thrills i could take out another car (911 GT3 or Challenge Stradale)

DB9 all the way for me...

Then the first runner up would be the Ferrari 612; while the M6 and the Conti GT follow those two respectively!!!

ford gt?
the new one?
the one that can barely go beyond 80 miles on a full tank?
not much of a GT.....

the old one?
it's a race car.
even the road one isn't exactly a GT car like the others here are.

anyway.
of the ones listed, my choice would be the DB9.
the only downer for me would be the marginally smaller room in the back but me being a small guy means that who ever's behind me will have ample leg room anyway.
i also much prefer the interior which, in terms of GT cars, is probably just as important as how it goes.

I feel like the Continental gets burned by any of the other three in all areas. I still cannot believe how it is so popular...

drunken monkey
02-17-2005, 07:26 AM
popular doesn't=good.
for the record, the Bentley isn't a bad car.
it's just that the others listed are 'better' in different ways.
if you want ultimate cosseting luxury then the Bentley is for you.
in a way, the Bentley doesn't really compare to the Aston and Ferrari because they have a definite 'racier' character.

not sure if the M6 belongs in this comparison.

I still cannot believe how it is so popular...

It's popular w/the rappers and atheletes since they throw some 20's or 24's on the sucker and pimp out! I mean...I think it was Jermaine Dupree who said, "You aint a balla till you got a Bentley."

So I think the move towards this cheaper Bentley (relatively speaking towards the other 300-380k ones) is b/c ppl want that aura...just like when ppl ate up the H2...it didnt have the aura of the H1...but ppl wanted to say, "I have a Hummer."

Aston Martin DB9

not even a question for bimmer and ferrari. the ferrari just looks terrible. and bmw is not in the same class as others. i saw a bently the other day. and it was beautiful. but if i were to have such money i would take db9 without any single thought. it is arguably the most beautiful automoble ever created under ford empire and sexiest car on the market.

crayzayjay
02-18-2005, 11:12 AM
Beautiful is the last word i'd personally associate with the Bentley, but obviously that's a matter of taste.

The interior is very well made and looks very 'Bentley' but the shape of the car is just wrong in my eyes, hideous even. And wtf is up with that disgusting 3rd brake light? So tacky :shakehead

i wish people would stop mentioning ford and aston martin together as if they were the same thing.
one has not a lot to do with the other except the question of ownership.

I'd have a DB9 in a heartbeat. I see both Continental GT's and DB9's a lot and I the Continental GT is nothing special in the metal, has far too fat of an arse. The DB9 on the other hand is gorgeous, jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Also rarer than a Continental GT (Over 50 orders here for the Bentley and 26 on the road already, while there are only about 7 DB9's and a few more on order).

The M6'll be nice, because the 6 series is dead-sexy and the M5 mechanicals are state of the art, but it's still a BMW at the end of the day, everybody has a BMW here (OK not everybody, but they are a damned common sight), though in all fairness, they're mainly 318i's, different kettle of fish. Still has the wrong badge though.

The Ferrari is too expensive, it's my second choice, since the DB9 is the current "Best new car on the road" title-holder. If it was a 456, maybe it'd be different

I'm with Moss. If it were the 456GTM instead of the Scag', I'd vote Ferrari. The 612 is starting to grow on me (lovely side profile, honestly, and great rear three-quarters view, but dear god that snout is a disaster), but the 456GTM was just so handsome and refined.

The DB9, I'm not sold on it yet. Quite frankly, I think the DB7 is much prettier than the DB9.

http://www.fast-autos.net/astonmartin/db7.jpg
http://www.fast-autos.net/astonmartin/vantage.jpg

as opposed to this

http://www.fast-autos.net/astonmartin/db92.jpg

To me, the DB9 looks too much like a "pretender". As if all the Aston Martin stylists did was meld DB7 and Vanquish styling cues. The DB9 has none of the brute charm of the Vanquish (which, by the way, had none of the brute charm of the classic V8 Astons it aped), and has none of the genteel grace of the DB7.

The Bentley, ugh. God I hate the VW Continental. It is a complete betrayal of Crewe's finest traditions and the designer should be shot on sight. Honestly, he thought he was mimicking the great Mulliner and Park Ward coachwork of the late 50's. How DELUDED was that bastard? Somebody please tell me how this travesty

http://www.fast-autos.net/bentley/cgtmulliner.jpg

is descended from this graceful tourer....

http://www.bbvideo.jp/kurumadoraku/pictures/1956Bentley_S1_Continental.jpg

So that leaves us with the M6. I do, actually, approve quite well of the M6. Its combination of performance, handling, and quite shocking good looks make it the pick of these four cars. Yes, I'd want a Ferrari or an Aston Martin over a BMW, but I'd want this BMW over that Ferrari and that Aston Martin.

Completely with you on the 456 and DB7 being better looking cars than their descendants.

Gotta be the Austin Martin. But your pick should have been the Vanquish S. Extra 100 horse power v12
