Friday my wife and I were out shopping for a second car so I wouldn't have to ride my motorcycle in the torrential rain and cold anymore. We were looking to spend between $4-6k.

After looking around all day I spotted a 1998 3000GT SL at the local Toyota dealership. It was in fantastic condition. Found out it was a one female owner/Florida car.

Ended up spending twice as much as I was looking to that day =/

However, I have a car I have always wanted! (though it isnt an SR4 - It's shape was too good to pass up.)

Planning on keeping the mods fairly mild. Borla cat back, downpipe, UDP, Cold-air intake, and some NGK plugs and wires.

One question I have though...that I haven't been able to find online..

How can I eliminate the terrible ringing noise with the door open - running ~ or with the key in the ignition? I must say, that is the only thing I have been able to find that I dislike about this car.

Hey, welcome to AF, glad to hear you bought a 3000gt...
Those mods will put compliment the car well and give you a little more pick up to your daily driver.

If you have further questions regarding mods or pretty much anything, I would suggest you check out the FAQ as there is a wealth of information for new owners.

As far as the ringing, I assume you mean that incessant beeping noise signaling the door isn't fully closed. It's a safety feature, and to be quite honest, I don't know how you would disable it, other than pulling the appropriate fuse. But the sound really doesn't bother me all that much, so I have never bothered...but here is a thread discussing it:

hope it helps.

When I puled the fuse for it the sterio re-set itself lol. Probably don't want to do that.

pull out the stereo, on one of the sides there is a small speaker, but it looks like a small white plastic box. Unplug it to make sure it gets rid of the sound before you remove it, and there should only be 1 screw holding it in.

Thats what I was looking for, thanks! Will do that when I replace the el'cheapo aftermarket head-unit the previous owner installed.
